June has already started with lots of energy for the Smiles Mobile Remittance Philippines team. Within the first two weeks of the month, the team traveled across regions to join thousands of kababayans at two of the most anticipated Filipino gatherings in Japan: Pistang Pilipino in Kobe and Fiesta Filipino Chubu in Nagoya.
Both events were a success, giving Smiles the ultimate platform to celebrate heritage while providing direct, on-the-ground support to the thriving overseas Filipino worker (OFW) community.
Part 1: Bringing fiesta to Kansai at Pistang Pilipino in Kobe
When: Jun. 6 and 7, 2026
Where: Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture
The June festival season kicked off with a bang in the port city of Kobe. Across the two-day Pistang Pilipino, the Smiles booth had many locals and visitors stopping by to enjoy a taste of home. The team was so grateful for the positive energy despite the rainy weather.

The Smiles team loved interacting with the long-time app users, helping new members register, and answering questions about how Smiles makes sending money back to the Philippines fast, secure, and affordable.
The warmth and feedback from the Kansai Filipino community served as a reminder of Smiles’ purpose to bridge distances and keep families connected.
Part 2: Smiles as Major Sponsor at Fiesta Filipino Chubu
When: Jun. 13 and 14, 2026
Where: Hisaya Odori - Angel Park, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture
The excitement hit a whole new level the following weekend as the team headed to Nagoya for Fiesta Filipino Chubu 2026. This wasn’t just any ordinary festival; it was a grand celebration marking the 128th Philippine Independence Day and the 70th Anniversary of Japan-Philippines Friendship.

As a major sponsor of the event—an alliance proudly formalized alongside the Filipino Community Central Japan (FCCJ) at the Philippine Consulate in Nagoya—Smiles played a key role in bringing the entire weekend to life.
Highlights from the Chubu booth:
Interactive community hub: The Smiles tent became a central meeting spot filled with games, laughter, and exclusive Smiles merchandise.
Uniting the community with music: Smiles Mobile Remittance’s brand ambassador and well-known Filipino actor/singer, Gabby Concepcion, serenaded the attendees from the Smiles booth.
On-site support: The team worked non-stop to guide hundreds of festival-goers through the Smiles Mobile Remittance app, showcasing how easy it is to handle finances while living abroad.
A shared legacy of "Sharing Smiles"
Whether in Kobe or Nagoya, the Smiles mission remained the same: to be more than just a remittance app. Smiles is a partner in the community, dedicated to preserving our cultural traditions and uplifting the everyday lives of Filipinos across Japan.
