Digital Wallet Corporation Donates to Katariba 2022

Digital Wallet Co., Ltd., operator of Smiles Mobile Remittance (Smiles)—Japan’s largest mobile international money transfer service—has made a donation to support the education of young foreign residents in Japan through Katariba, a certified NPO that assists high school students unable to continue their studies due to various hardships.

As a company committed to supporting the lives of our globally active users, their families, and the creation of sustainable societies in their home countries, we have decided to take action to help improve the situation where daily life has become even more difficult due to the coronavirus. Aiming to bring a ray of hope to the future society that the younger generation will shape, even amidst challenging social conditions, we have been donating to the “Roots” project—one of the initiatives run by Katariba—by redirecting a portion of our advertising budget, and we have continued this effort this year as well. In addition to financial support, members of our company—a global enterprise with professionals from over 12 countries—plan to provide direct support and contribute to the students participating in the “Roots” project.

Since 2001, Katariba has been a nonprofit organization working to create a society where everyone, regardless of their background, can develop the power to shape their own future, and to realize a future where all teenagers can gain motivation and creativity. The “Roots” project, one of Katariba’s initiatives, provides various forms of support during high school class time and after school to help young people with foreign roots envision their futures. We are committed to creating a future where differences in nationality, culture, and background do not lead to inequality, but rather where “differences become a source of richness.”

Our company has been taking action to realize sustainable societies in Asian countries, such as through our ongoing annual project to donate food in the Philippines for 100 consecutive days leading up to December 25. Our recent donation to the Roots Project in Japan is part of our commitment to realizing a prosperous and peaceful future society for both Japan and the nations of Asia.
