Digital Wallet Corporation Launches New Partnership with Mutual Trust Bank Limited

12-Nov-2021

Tokyo, Japan — Digital Wallet Corporation (DWC), developer of Smiles Mobile Remittance (Smiles), the 2021 Good Design Award winner and mobile international money transfer service in Japan, confirmed its partnership with Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB), known as one of the best performing banks in Bangladesh, to expand its remittance service to Bangladesh customers in Japan.

DWC and MTB together will provide a remittance platform that is fast and convenient for thousands of Bangladeshi in Japan. The Bangladesh community across Japan can now take advantage of Smiles.

Smiles will allow customers to send money for cash pickup to a total of 112 MTB branches situated in 36 districts in Bangladesh and credit to bank accounts in any Bangladesh bank.

“I have a lot of confidence in our partnership with MTB,” says Eiji Miyakawa, Founder and CEO of DWC, “and I’m hopeful that our combined accomplishments and expertise will make a positive impact on more lives throughout the globe.”

The latest partnership with MTB in Bangladesh is an addition to DWC’s existing alliances with well-known banks in Asia such as Asia United Bank, Sacombank-SBR, Agribank, and Bank Rakyat Indonesia. DWC sees there’s a growing need for an advanced remittance service, as Bangladesh showed an 18.4% increase from 2019 to 2020 in remittances even during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With more Asian communities in Japan looking for an affordable and reliable solution to send their hard-earned money back to their home country and their loved ones, DWC strives to put power into the hands of more users to send money anytime and anywhere in minutes.

“It’s an exciting opportunity, and we are looking forward [to a] fruitful journey ahead,” said Sirajum Monira, Associate in Partner Acquisition & Affiliation Management of MTB.
