Saskatchewan, Canada – Digital Wallet Canada Limited through Smiles Mobile Remittance Canada – Philippines joined as a sponsor to the Taste of the Philippines event at Holy Rosary Cathedral in Saskatchewan, Canada last Sep. 10, 2022.
The Taste of the Philippines started back in 2018 and became an annual event until the pandemic hit in 2020. The event paused for 2 years and was finally revived again this year.
The event showcased various Filipino cuisines and delicacies, mostly missed by many Filipinos in Canada. A variety of stalls also sold various Filipino dishes, street foods and handmade products.
Different elements of Filipino culture were shared with the community: A parade was held with candidates from the local beauty contest as well as local talents like musicians, Filipiniana dancers and local bands.
The event was an ideal way for Smiles Canada to immerse deeper into the Filipino community in Canada. Many Filipinos gathered from all over Saskatchewan and neighboring provinces to have fun, connect with each other and enjoy the taste of home.
The Taste of the Philippines also promoted local Filipino entrepreneurs who owned restaurants, authentic stores and other businesses with products that cater to Filipino needs.
With the event being a great turnout, Smiles Mobile Remittance Canada – Philippines hopes to join next year’s event and strengthen relationships in the Filipino Canadian community.
